COMBINE MENTORING
For the past 7 years, The Bklyn Combine has partnered with Mott Hall Bridges Academy and Kappa V middle schools mentoring young boys and girls ages 8 and up. Both schools are located in Brownsville, Brooklyn and we mentor every Saturday from 10am-1pm. The purpose of the Bklyn Combine mentorship program is to teach young students our core curriculum which consists of basic life skills as well as specialized tech skills like web coding. We have also conducted field trips and remote workshops on photography and podcasting with MoCADA x HYCIDE Magazine and hackathons at Yale University and Spotify to name a few.
We also regularly execute 6-, 8-, and 12-week workshops with partners likewith KAVI, NYCHA, and Court Innovations in schools in Red Hook, Brooklyn on STEM and Storytelling through photography and podcasting, as well as specialized muliti-session workshops with CUNY and Black Men Teach on our Bklyn Combine pedagogy.
The Bklyn Combine mentorship program serves as a reminder that the youth are powerful, unstoppable, and unbreakable. As a collective, we are tasked with developing young minds to carry the torch to build the community from the inside out.
