Art Ready 2026 was undoubtedly another amazing art-making year. Our partners at Smack Mellon Gallery in Dumbo did a great job of selecting only the best and brightest young artists to participate in the Art Ready Mentorship program.
Sofia, Wren, Kaung, and Chris did a phenomenal job on their final projects: a 4-minute short film that provided a window into each artist’s soul. In addition, each filmmaker created a promotional movie poster.
I would be remiss if I did not mention our special guest filmmaker mentors, Kendi and Miles, for lending their knowledge and for inviting our mentees to learn the ropes by shadowing them on set while shooting their visual album, Shh… A Recording’s In Progress (SARIP).
Special thanks to our guest presenters/filmmaker: Summer, Epiphany, and our Bklyn Combine youth who joined: Nathan, Daniel, Dushaun, and intern Gabriel.
